Comments policy

The Interpreter welcomes comments via the blogeditor@lowyinstitute.org email address. All comments are read by the editors and most are published after they are assessed for quality, relevance, taste and legal considerations.

We are occasionally asked why The Interpreter does not have open comments threads. The main reason relates to the character and editorial tone of the site, which is as much a magazine as it is a blog. We feel a 'letter to the editor'-style recurring feature suits this model. We also believe that featuring reader feedback on our page as 'Reader Ripostes' gives them more prominence than if they could only be viewed in a comments thread.
