Fatwas and the single girl

Quote of the day goes to TIME magazine's art editor Belinda Luscombe. The Daily Mail reports (h/t Catallaxy) that historian Niall Ferguson has split with his wife to take up with Ayaan Hirshi Ali, who you will recall is the Somali activist and writer subjected to death threats for her outspoken criticisms of Islam. Says Luscombe, who introduced the pair:

'In all the years I have known Ayaan, she’s never had a boyfriend. She’s gorgeous, but with a fatwa, it’s tricky to find guys.’

Ladies, you now have another tactic to use next time you're being harassed by an unappealing male at a nightclub: 'Sorry, it's not you, it's just that I'm an outspoken critic of extremist Islam and anyone in close physical proximity to me could be shot or blown up at any moment by an Iranian agent'.
