In this quick comment, Lowy Institute International Security Program Director Euan Graham discusses key aspects of his Lowy Institute Analysis 'The lion and the kangaroo: Australia’s strategic partnership with Singapore', launched today.  In relation to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership recently announced by the two countries, Dr Graham remarks the term 'strategic', often over–used, is warranted in this case. But while the CSP is a long term play —  a 25 year agreement involving a substantial financial commitment ($2.5 billion) from Singapore and a substantial political and diplomatic commitment from both sides — there is still room in this partnership for some differences. This is evident in the  two countries' views and approaches to China.
